About This Collection

Throughout history, rare Yixing teapots have not been made in large numbers, but rather for particular occasions, shaped with intention from specific clays, forms, and timing. Since the late Ming dynasty, they have been valued by scholars and collectors and held within imperial circles for the meaning they carry. From the season of making to firing, decisions are guided by ancient principles, including astrological alignment such as Bazi, so that symbolic meaning, auspiciousness and blessing become part of the living quality these pieces carry across generations.

It is through this level of care that this page is created — for those looking to acquire a truly exceptional piece to accompany them for generations.

The Artists

  • Master Zhang Hui 张惠

  • Wu Tao 吴涛

A nationally recognised Senior Arts and Crafts Artist and Inheritor of the Yixing Zisha tradition, recently honoured as a Lifetime Achievement Artist. With over four decades of dedicated practice, her works are held in museum collections and recognised at national and international exhibitions.

Zhang’s work is rooted in close observation of nature and daily tea practice. Drawing from forms found in her upbringing and surroundings — from the movement of rivers to the presence of ancient tea trees — she approaches each piece with a in-depth consideration of how it will be used. The choice of clay, its age and its character are all guided by this relationship between tea and form.

Trained in the tradition of her masters, she works with discipline, restraint and continuity, each piece carrying a quiet strength grounded in classical understanding.

A third-generation Zisha artisan trained through close apprenticeship and generational practice. His work is shaped by both this foundation and continued guidance from established masters in the field, with pieces held in museums and private collections.

Alongside this traditional grounding, Wu’s practice is influenced by a strong interest in architecture, both classical and contemporary. This is reflected in his exploration of structure, proportion, and geometry, bringing distinct expressions to Yixing's work while remaining rooted in the discipline of the craft.

His pieces often sit at the meeting point of tradition and contemporary form, extending the language of Zisha without departing from its foundations.

Private Enquiry

Whether you are exploring the collection, searching for a particular piece, or considering something more personal, each enquiry unfolds differently.

In some cases, it begins with a work you have seen here. In others, it develops through conversation, as we come to understand what draws you, how you engage with tea, and what you would like the piece to carry over time.

From there, we may share works beyond what is shown or explore the possibility of developing something uniquely for you.

You are welcome to begin wherever you are.
